Community Network Meme – Everything You Didn’t Want to Know About Me and More

I’m participating in a Community Network Meme today (Thanks Tom Baker for a great idea! What a blast!). I had to interview myself while all hyped up on coffee. I learned a lot. Enjoy.

I wasn’t surprised when Melinda showed up in her standard work outfit, a t-shirt and sweats, for the interview. Despite having to wait for a pot of coffee to brew and constant interruptions by children wandering into the room in search of food, this interview was completed in a record five days. Get me out of here! – Melinda, The Interviewer.

1. If you could interview anyone on your blog (alive or dead) who would you choose and why?

EllenI wanted to say Brad Pitt here because I thought “Here’s my chance!” However, the real answer is an easy one – Ellen Degeneres! I have been a HUGE fan since her early stand-up days and the original Ellen show (which I ordered and am currently watching again with my daughter.)

Not only do I find her naturally hysterical, but I love she’s funny without feeling like she needs to use profanity. She’s making a difference in the world using her star power to help worthy charities and is an inspiring role model demonstrating how to live a good life.

I’m always joking about wanting to be a guest on her show, but I would settle for lunch. Unless Brad Pitt is a guest on the same show, and that would be AWESOME because I’m meeting my top two picks all at once. I’m sure I could come up with some interesting questions to ask her.

Ellen, I promise not to be a crazed psycho fan, and I was totally joking about stealing props from the show. You can’t take anything I say while hyped up on coffee seriously.

2. What do you feel is your strength as a blogger?

Well it certainly isn’t my spelling ability. Hmm… I would say being able to create endless amounts of stories based on simple things. I find the small things in life are funny and look at the world differently than most.

Finding the funny in nothing is a strength I suppose. Is that like a superhero power? If someone could confirm that it is, I would finally have an excuse to purchase a Catwoman costume, black shiny boots, and a cool cape.

3. Can you share a little bit about yourself that you have not already mentioned on your blog?

I won a bronze medal in the 1990 Olympics for swimming. Okay Okay…that’s not true as I specialize in the doggy-paddle which is not currently recognized as a stroke. If I were to be invited to the Olympics, it would be more likely for chasing kids around Walmart clothing racks. If you have to call a Manager for assistance you are disqualified. See you have already forgotten the question and think I answered it.

flossHere is the big secret: I love getting my teeth cleaned at the dentist. I hope you are happy I had to admit that I’m weird like that. The little bag containing a new toothbrush and that mouse-sized trial pack of floss is AWESOME! Maybe I’m easily amused. After my last visit, my daughter asked what toy I picked. I had to explain to her that I don’t get a plastic ring or bouncy ball there. She wanted to know why I went if there were no toys. Pondering the answer I was forced to reevaluate the greatness of my floss. She ruined it for me.

4. If you were forced to change the name of your blog, what would you change it to? Why?

Mom Might Be Crazy.
Sleeplessly Lost in Motherhood.
Overcoming the Clumsiness of Parenting.
I guess they might be more appropriate titles. I hate lemonade, so it’s ironic that I picked that as a theme. I will never recommend that you make lemonade out of the lemons.

5. What do you think is the most fulfilling part of being a blogger?

commentsThe two way conversations it produces is the best part. The comments are often better than the post, and I enjoy hearing what everyone has to add to the conversation. I love comments! What blogger doesn’t?

I have the best commentators that make me laugh out loud at their contributions. It really makes my day. Don’t forget to comment below please. Pretty please with a cherry on top.

6. What would you do with your last day if you found you had only one more day to live?

Spend it hugging on my kids, playing with them, tickling them, and taking a million pictures so they don’t forget me. They are the best! It must take place on a scenic beach in Bahamas. Better yet, add in a wait staff and a chef because I don’t want to cook on my last day. I’m going to require some spinach and artichoke dip and a large bag of peanut M&Ms. Oh, and add a maid! Is requesting Brad Pitt to deliver the food to the beach asking too much? I didn’t think so.

7. You’ve been doing medical research for decades and have finally found a cure. What was it that you found a cure for and why did you choose this particular ailment?

wrinklesI discovered the cure for wrinkles. I choose this ailment because it was costing me hundreds of dollars in miracle creams that cluttered up my bathroom counter to the point where I couldn’t see over them and into the mirror anymore. I’m thinking that is their plan so you can’t see it isn’t working. Enough of that nonsense! It had to end. You’re welcome.

Turns out the cure for wrinkles is not having kids. Meh… it’s not worth it. Now onto my next research: how to make wrinkles the cool “in” thing to have.

8. What is your most guilty pleasure?

My Xbox for sure!!! More specifically Black Ops, my current obsession.

My clan tag is GIRL so those obnoxious, trash-talking teenage boys know that a girl just took them out. Someone has to humble them and bring them back to reality. However, I try not to embarrass them by pointing out I’m also a mom of three kids.

This comes in handy for my son. I understand that the match must finish before you come to the dinner table and that walking in front of the screen to put clothes in a drawer can throw off the precious K/D ratio.

17,000+ GS and counting – I like achievements. Bleep bloop. If laundry gave me points I’d be more excited about it.

9. Answer only one. What is your favorite book, movie or TV show?

Favorite TV Show: Seinfeld. There isn’t even a close second. I haven’t been much of a TV watcher since that show went off the air. It was sort of downhill from there. I’ve seen every episode at least 15 times and could probably quote a line for any situation.

If there was a degree in Seinfeld trivia I would have a PhD for sure. I can relate to Kramer in this clip. I’m way over-caffeinated on a daily basis.

10. What do you think is the very best smell in the world? The one smell that can take you back to a time and place of a very vivid memory in your past?

The smell of homemade cinnamon rolls baking reminds me of childhood and my Grandmother’s house when she was baking them. My mother made them often, too. They were a special treat each year at the annual beach trip, and my friends and I couldn’t wait to dig into the container full of them. They are melt-in-your mouth goodness when they are warm.

Now I’m off to check out these great blogs, and you should, too.
